e-Visa sufficient for Pondicherry trip, or consulate stamp needed for foreign national companion?

Namaste everyone! I'm planning a birdwatching trip to Pondicherry from July 15th to July 22nd with a friend from the UK. She's particularly keen on spotting the European Roller (Coracias garrulus) if we're lucky! We'll be staying at a quaint guesthouse near the Ousteri Lake. My friend has an approved India e-Visa. Is this sufficient for her entry, or does she require a traditional consulate stamp in her passport? I want to ensure there are no last-minute hiccups, especially with our early morning excursions planned. Any recent experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey there! Super cool you're heading to Pondy for some birdwatching, especially for the European Roller – good luck with that! About your friend's e-Visa: yes, absolutely, the approved India e-Visa is completely sufficient for her entry. She doesn't need a consulate stamp in her passport at all. My friends from Lisbon used their e-Visas just fine when they came to visit me in Bangalore last November, and they had no issues at immigration. Just make sure she has a printout of the e-Visa confirmation, along with her passport, when she arrives. The e-Visa system is pretty streamlined now. They'll just scan her passport and the visa confirmation at the airport. You guys are set for July 15th to 22nd, no worries about last-minute hiccups on the visa front. Enjoy Ousteri Lake and hope you spot that Roller!
