Berlin for a Month: Best Neighbourhoods & Affordable Stays for a Solo Female Traveler from Delhi?

I'm planning a solo trip to Berlin for about a month, likely from mid-September to mid-October. I'm looking for recommendations on safe, vibrant neighbourhoods that are well-connected by public transport and have a good vibe for someone in their mid-30s. What are the best options for long-term accommodation (like serviced apartments, Airbnb, or even extended-stay hostels) that won't break the bank? My budget is roughly 800-1200 EUR for the entire month for accommodation. Any tips on finding good deals or areas to avoid would be super helpful!

Ah, Berlin in autumn, a beautiful time for contemplation. For a month, mid-September to mid-October, your budget of 800-1200 EUR is doable, though you'll need to look carefully. Consider Neukölln, particularly around Reuterstraße or Weserstraße. It has a lively, diverse energy, with many cafes and small galleries. The U7 and U8 lines connect you well. For a different vibe, Prenzlauer Berg, especially Kollwitzkiez, is quieter, more established, with lovely old buildings. It's safe, and the M10 tram connects you to many places. For long stays, look at serviced apartments or even longer-term Airbnb rentals. Searching directly for "Wohnung auf Zeit Berlin" (temporary apartment) can sometimes yield better results than standard short-term platforms. Also, check out platforms like Wunderflats or Coming Home. Start looking now, as prices will firm up closer to September. Avoid very central tourist areas like Mitte for accommodation; they’ll be pricier and less authentic for a longer stay.

Berlin is amazing for solo trips, you'll love it, especially mid-September to mid-October for the weather and autumn colors. For safety and good vibes, I'd suggest Prenzlauer Berg or Charlottenburg. Prenzlauer Berg is super pretty with lots of cafes and galleries, very walkable, and felt really safe even at night. Charlottenburg is a bit more upscale, still safe, with beautiful architecture and close to parks. Both have great U-Bahn/S-Bahn connections. Mitte is also good but can feel a bit more touristy and less residential. Friedrichshain is vibrant but sometimes felt a bit edgier at night, so I personally preferred the other two. For your budget of 800-1200 EUR, an Airbnb or a serviced apartment is definitely doable. Check sites like Wunderflats or HousingAnywhere for longer stays, sometimes you can find better deals than regular Airbnb for a full month. Look for places near U-Bahn stations like Eberswalder Straße in Prenzlauer Berg or Savignyplatz in Charlottenburg. Some hostels, like The Circus Apartments, also offer longer stays that are more like a private studio, but I haven't personally tried those for a month. Avoid staying too far out from the city center if you want to be close to the art scene and cafes. While cheaper, you'll spend more time commuting and might feel a bit isolated as a solo traveler. Stick to areas within the Ringbahn.
