Boutique stays in Edinburgh for solo female traveler under ₹6000? First UK trip, so little anxious!

Hello everyone! Planning my first ever international solo trip, and Edinburgh is on my list for late September/early October. I'm looking for recommendations for cute, safe boutique hotels or guesthouses. My budget is strictly under ₹6000 per night (approx. £60-£65). Being a first-timer abroad, I'm a bit nervous about everything – currency exchange, power adapters, local transport, etc. Any advice on these things, especially for Edinburgh, would also be super helpful! Not looking for hostels, prefer something with a bit more privacy and charm. Thanks in advance for your help!

While I mostly focus on finding the best tee times and club rentals in my travels, I can offer a bit of perspective on Edinburgh, as it's a great spot to base yourself for some exceptional golf courses. For late September, early October, the weather can be a bit brisk, so keep that in mind. At your budget of around £60-£65, finding a "boutique" stay might be a stretch, as Edinburgh is a popular destination. However, you should definitely look into guesthouses in areas like Newington or Marchmont. They tend to be well-maintained, safe, and often family-run, which can give you that personal touch you're looking for. These are a short bus ride or a decent walk to the city center. For your specific concerns: currency exchange is easy at any major bank or airport, though I usually just use my credit cards. For power adapters, you'll need a Type G plug for the UK. Public transport in Edinburgh is excellent with Lothian Buses, just tap your card or buy a day ticket. Don't overthink it too much; Edinburgh is a very welcoming city. If you ever decide to pick up a club, there are some stunning courses nearby like Muirfield or North Berwick that are worth the journey.

Hey, this is a bit outside my usual scope, I'm more into finding good sunrise spots for my telephoto lens, not so much boutique stays. But I can tell you a bit about Edinburgh light if you're there late September, early October. For photography, that time of year the sun rises around 7 AM. You'll get some really nice golden hour light for about an hour after that, perfect for shooting the castle or Arthur's Seat from a distance. Sun sets around 6 PM, so another good hour of light then. It can be a bit overcast, but that can diffuse the light really well for landscapes. I usually aim for the high ground if I want to catch the first rays. Maybe check out Calton Hill or the Salisbury Crags for some early morning shots if you're up for it. The light changes fast so be ready. Hope you have a good trip and get some nice pictures!

Hey, congratulations on your first international trip! Edinburgh is a great choice. I actually took my wife there for our first anniversary. We loved the vibe. For your budget, you're looking at around £60-£65. That's a bit tight for "boutique" in Edinburgh, especially in late September/early October which is still quite popular. You might struggle to find dedicated boutique hotels at that price point, but there are some excellent guesthouses and B&Bs that offer that charm and privacy. Check out places slightly outside the immediate Royal Mile area but still very walkable, like in the New Town or Marchmont. The Auld Reekie Guest House sometimes has rooms around £60-£70. Another good option could be The Ben Doran Guest House. Both offer private rooms, good service, and are generally well-regarded for solo travelers. You might also find some smaller family-run places on booking sites by filtering for "guesthouse" or "B&B" rather than "hotel."
